After hanging up my soccer cleats in my late 20s, I took on the challenge of the CIM (California International Marathon) in 2000. Despite a stellar first marathon, my enthusiasm got the best of me. Overtraining led to Hip and IT Band issues, and the doctors dropped the bomb: "You should stop running."
But quitting wasn't in my playbook. I knew a change was needed in my training and injury prevention strategy. Enter sustainable training methods and a chiropractor who turned out to be none other than trail running legend Gordy Ainsleigh, the mastermind behind the 100-mile Ultra-Marathon. The idea of conquering 100 miles through the mountains hooked me instantly.
Fast forward to 2005, just three years post my initial setbacks, and I'm tackling my first 100-mile race—the Western States 100-mile endurance run, completed in under 24 hours.
Since then, I've logged 100+ races, from 5K's to marathons and ultra marathons, revisiting Western States in 2022. I've experimented with various training approaches, keeping me injury-free for the past two decades.
My true passion lies in sharing this wealth of knowledge to help fellow runners reach their goals. From coaching middle and high school athletes on cross country and track teams to guiding beginners gearing up for their first 5K/10K or half marathon, and working with ultra runners across different age groups—I've been there for them all. Let's chase those running dreams together!
