After retiring from soccer in my late 20's, I ran CIM (California International Marathon) in 2000. After a great first marathon, I got overzealous, overtrained, and ended up with Hip and IT Band issues, leading doctors to tell me that "I should stop running."
I wasn't going to let that stop me, but I knew I needed to change my training and Injury prevention approach. I researched sustainable training methods and found a chiropractor who helped me overcome my injuries.
This chiropractor happened to be trail runner Gordy Ainsleigh, the pioneer of the 100-mile Ultra-Marathon, and I was instantly hooked by the thought of running 100 miles through the mountains.
In 2005, just three years after my initial injuries, I ran my first 100-mile race, the Western States 100-mile endurance run, in under 24 hours.
Since then, I have run 13 marathons and 40+ ultra marathons, including Western States (again) in 2022.
I have tried various training methods that have kept me injury free for the last 20 years.
My passion is to share my knowledge and help runners achieve their goals.
I have worked with middle and high school athletes on cross country and track teams, beginner runners training for their first 5K/10K or half marathon, and ultra runners of various ages.
