Kelvin set a PR of 5:51 at the challenging Rodeo Valley 50K, a whopping 25 minutes faster than his effort at the Way To Cool 50K last year!
"Theo's self-mastery of the ultra gave me a ton of inspiration to push my training harder than I had previously. I'm learning new ways to train and feel stronger and more confident as a runner under Theo's guidance. His know-how and coaching style is perfect for runners at any stage in their running journey and it is truly a pleasure being coached by Theo! "
Christine laced up her running shoes for the first time about a year ago and crossed the finish line at the Disney World Marathon, clocking in just over 5 hours. Now that's what I call a real "couch to marathon" success story! 🏃♀️✨
"I started my running journey using an app, but it wasn’t quite getting the job done. Apps can’t take your personal needs into account the way Theo can. He provided a completely customized training plan, and updated it each week based on my personal needs and schedule. Also, Theo was there to provide advice, guidance, and answered any question i had!
Being a novice runner I made a lot of rookie mistakes. Theo did educate me about fueling, pacing and how to properly run Fartlek workouts and hill repeats. But, not having worked with a running coaching before I didn’t always understand some of his is methods, like trying to run faster at the end of a long run. But, I gave into his process and did what the plan suggested.
I can honestly say there is no way I would have finished the marathon so strong without him. At mile 20, when most people hit the wall, Theo’s training all came together for me. I felt energized. “Wow, Theo was right. Thank God I worked with him” popped in my head and I picked up my speed. My fastest mile was the last mile of the marathon.
Whether your goal is to run your first 5K or run your first ultra Theo will help you reach your goals."
Deidre is training for the Canyons by UTMB 100-mile endurance run.
She completed a 50K in August, and finished the very challening Sean O'Brien 50 mile race (with almost 12,000 feet of climbing and descending) in just under 13 hours.
" Theo is the best! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Theo. He cares so much and really wants to help. You can tell he enjoys what he does. He’s been coaching me now for months and trained me through my first ultramarathon! I’m working my way up to a 100 miler and he’s been always available for any questions/concerns. I would 100% recommend Theo to anyone from beginner to advance! With no experience in trail running he got me to where I am now and I can’t wait to see how we progress. "
Amanda, a Chico State Softball Alumni and busy grad student, finished her first half marathon at the San Diego Half in 1:54, easily beating her goal time of two hours!
Amanda achieved that time by only running three days a week.
Strides, focused workouts, and measured long runs were the key to her success!
"Theo trained me for my first half marathon and I was super pleased with the plan and advice he provided me with! He is a great coach and knows a lot about running and how to best prepare for races. Theo is super responsive and willing to adjust to meet your needs. Definitely would recommend his services for anyone looking for a coach and trainer! 👍🏼🏃🏼 "
Rick run his first trail ultra marathon, the Way To Cool 50K, in very challenging conditions on March 4th. He crushed his time goal and finished in just over 6 hours!
Just four weeks later, Rick ran the American River 25-mile race (after almost signing up for the 50-mile race !), and he finished 3rd overall in a time of 4:18!
" Thanks to Theo's coaching advice, I was able to complete my first 50k trail race comfortably even with wet, windy, and cold conditions.
Coming from a triathlon background, running was something I had to do more than I wanted to do. In fact, going for a run was something I for the most part dreaded.
But with Theo's coaching, I slowly started falling in love with running and now I look for any chance I can find to get out and run. His coaching plan was gradual and consistent and kept me injury free and enabled me to finish the race without any lasting soreness or aches. Having a full-time job meant I didn’t have hours a day every day to get out and run which is what I thought I needed to do to become a runner. Theo's coaching plan consisted of shorter purposeful workouts and a mix of strength workouts which gradually improved my running so I could complete the longer weekend runs when he had them planned.
Over a couple of months, I could feel myself getting fitter and stronger and the rollers on the trails that I may have had to walk previously, I could suddenly glide over. I finished my first 50k 13th out of 59 in my age group which felt amazing since my only goal was to actually finish the race. 50k down now on to a 50 miler! "
"Thanks Coach Theo, you are the best!"
Justin ran his first half marathon at the Surf City Marathon & Half In Huntington Beach on Feb 4th and SMASHED the sub 2hr goal by running 1:48 and negative splitting the half!
"3 years ago, I broke my kneecap and couldn't walk for six months.
Six months ago I could barely run a few miles.
Thanks to Theo's coaching, I learned that consistency and easy running most of the time pays off big time and enabled me to build up mileage very gradually. Adding strides and focused workouts was the icing on the cake so I could run strong for 13+ miles. Finishing the last mile at a 7:15 pace felt amazing.
Thanks, Theo!"
